Just yesterday it was revealed that Toni Braxton felt some kinda way about her 1998 Oprah appearance (click HERE if you missed that), but did you know that Braxton’s Grammy award winning song “You’re Making Me High” was about smoking weed?
“A week before (writing the song ), I was introduced to marijuana, and I got high for the first time and so I added that in the song,” she said.
“In the bridge, I’m singing, ‘I want to feel your heart and soul inside of me/Let’s make a deal you roll, I lick/And we can go flying into ecstasy’. I was talking about (rolling and smoking a joint).”
Oh my! (clutches pearls) and to think I always thought she was singing about the emotional highs of a new love!

Wow, someone introduced her to weed. There is no one and I mean no one that can introduce me to something that I wouldn’t want to do such as getting high or any type of drugs. I can’t stand the smell of that stinky crap let alone trying it.
I know…Good thing it wasn’t laced with crack cocaine?The financial woes would have been the least of her worries in life.The industry is a brutal place to do your business, because they tend to end the same.Not good at all.Sad.
They say the Hollywood/entertainment industry will build you up and welcome you with open arms and will also spit you out like bad medicine.

Agreed. Not taking responsibility for your actions or owning up to them is the first step leading to all types of bankruptcy. Not just financial bankruptcy.
Her mother seemed upset that people keep talking about her bankrupcty but Toni appears to be the type of person that she will always have money problems. She is always wearing something expensive, carrying fancy purses, and living in expensive homes. If she made $100 million she would probably still be broke she has poor money management skills as do so many other people.
I completely agree! She needs to try a new concept…it’s called "Living Within Your Means"!!!
Well somebody needs to tell that to Vince and Tamar because I see no reason why they have 3 mortgages and no damn kids. The houses they bought (California, Georgia, Florida) are empty when they are not there. Waste of money.
Also I think that celebrities trust others to manage their money and those people are not turst worthy.
And I woud think motherhood would motivate someone to change for the better. It is essential to keep your finances in order when you have children. I cannot fathom risking a roof over my child’s head for a handbag. Something about that just doesn’t seem morally right to me.
You know what, I have friends like that who are just horrible with their finances. If they won the lottery they will be broke in 5-7 years. Some people are not good with money. Think of those that get large sums of money on their tax returns and that money is gone within a few days, weeks, or in a month all because some people can’t manage their money.
That makes sense now. And I think Tamar smokes too. I could’ve sworn I saw her holding a blunt in the previews.

I’m still getting on her talking about Oprah. No one told her to spend all of her money on expensive things that she must not have been able to afford. SMH
Knowing that she was singing about some Keesha makes me like Toni even more. Would love to blow one with her and tongue kiss that kitty kat until her legs shake and tremble. Folks need to stop dunping on my girl Toni unless you willing to show your financial statements and let the world know what you spend your $$$$ on. Folks always worrying about the next mans pocket when they should focus on their own. IJS
Toni put herself out there for the world to criticize. No one made Toni do this "Behind the Music" episode. If she didn’t put her business out for the world to see then there wouldn’t be any worries about what’s or who is in her pockets. IJS.

Agreed. Lots of celebs keep their money issue private. Toni should have done the same.
I like Toni. At least she was the one that told her story and is spending her money on herself and not some male 10-15yrs her junior.Like emenin(?sp)said in 8 miles..if i tell on myself then what else can you say about me (paraphasing)? She’s probably having bankruptcy/buyers remorse and needed to tell her story.

I used to love Toni until the last season of her show when she turned into a jealous mean girl. In therapy when she out of the blue went in on Traci’s weight, and when she was always on Tamar. First of all Tamar has that out there full of energy personality but she has a good heart. She does back up singing and traveling with Toni and never accepts pay and her and Vince are usually footing the bill for her sisters’ shortcoming except maybe Trina because Trina’s husband has a great job.If they want Tamar out of their business then STOP ASKING FOR MONEY AND PUTTING HER IN YOUR BUSINESS. Then she fired Vince because he had a conflict of interest with her sister/his wife. Hello he pushed Tamar’s career to the back for Toni. Well now Toni is not getting booked for anything with her new manager. I wish her well.
@ Opulent: I was also surprised by the way she randomly focused in on Traci’s weight.
Even though I don’t have children, I still feel Traci’s pain. She was left behind because she was pregnant. Trina became pregnant, but I guess the pregnancy didn’t effect Trina’s record deal because of the timing of the pregnancy. The other sisters do sometimes treat Traci like the black sheep of the family.
WE Tv even nicknamed Traci "the wannabe". Toni’s own weight has fluctuated. I saw the reality show when she was pregnant the second time, and Toni was MUCH, MUCH larger than Traci is.
I was surprised that Toni came at Traci so pointedly and so casually.
Yes she went in on Traci. They kind of treat Traci like crap. I also believe that Traci husband doesn’t want the sisters all in his business and this is why she hasn’t made the move to the atl yet.

You missed it because it was a very short statement about when she was first introduced to Mary Jane, around the time she made that song. I think people are making a bigger deal out of that, than is necessary. Just because you tried something once does not a crack head make. Bill tried it, do you see him on the pipe. I think her money if funny because she is always trying to take care of her family.
