Sad news today. Natina Reed, member of 90′s R&B girl group Blaque, was killed in a hit-and-run accident as she walked across a street in Atlanta, GA, last night (October 26, 2012).
Tomorrow would have been her 33rd birthday.
Details below…Nothing has been confirm by mainstream media but several notable Atlanta industry heads have confirmed the news online and off.
Reed, a protege of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, had been struggling with drug & alcohol addiction and had been arrested several times over the years.
She was a member of the 90′s girl group Blaque, best known for their song “808″…
Shortly after news broke of the singer/actress’ passing, Reed’s fellow Blaque group member, Brandi Williams, sent out the following heartfelt message:

So I was just listening to "Bring It All to Me" earlier this week-my fave song by them. I can’t believe she passed away. Left Eye also died in a vehicle-related incident and was around, if not, the same age. That’s eerie….And ty, Michelle, for the back story, because I never knew she even had legal issues. Hopefully this will inspire someone to put down that bottle or don’t get behind the wheel while drinking…I pray she wasn’t under the influence when this happened. Happy Birthday and Rest in Peace, Natina.

This is so sad. Last night I couldn’t sleep so I went on youtube to catch up on my Funky Dineva’s video’s and he had just interviewed Brandi of the group. After the interview, it made me start to reminisce so I listened to all their stuff on there. When I seen this on FB I was shocked just because I was just listening to them. To think I am in CA and was up at the wee hours of the morning so it’s possible I was listening to them as she was dying, my prayers are with her family.

The AJC is reporting that this was not a case of hit-and-run, as being reported. The driver that struck her actually called 9-1-1. Plus, this happened near Lilburn (OTP), not Atlanta. Sounds like to me that she walked out in front of the car. It not uncommon for people to take their lives in this type of fashion. But hey…I could be wrong…

Wsbtv just updated their Facebook stating that it wasn’t a hit n run and the driver is the one who called the police. No one is facing charges at this time. And there were only two witnesses: the driver and passenger. Just an "update" just in case you didn’t see it.

The music business is something else. I bet the after effects of the music business was a the cause of a lot of her run ins with the law. I believe that one of the members of Blaque (Brandi I believe) is at Georgia State University completing a degree now. I read in "Sister 2 Sister" I believe where she was quoted as saying that people at GSU were being mean and giving her a hard time. Brandi realized that she needed a back up plan outside of music and separate from her husband Ronnie of New Edition.
