Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson hit the tweets late last night to shout out a new rapper in the game, French Montana.
Montana, best known for his single “Pop That” featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne & Drake (click HERE to watch his recent BET Hip-Hop Awards Performance), apparently struck a nerve with the gangsta rapper/entrepreneur, who posted the following via his twitter:

50 cent has been in the game a lonnnng time and French Montana, being a newbie, referenced that fact in a recent interview with Complex magazine.
Oddly enough, French Montana was talking about his conscious decision to AVOID “Beef” when he brought up 50′s name.
Complex: I look at someone like Pusha saying Lil Wayne’s Dedication 4 isn’t that good. Whereas you, you have Wayne on your songs but you rolled with Kanye before and then you also hang out with Rick Ross. It seems like avoiding beef has been a conscious decision.
French Montana: Yeah, you have to. I feel like you have to expand. But when you beef, you put negative energy out there and it brings negative energy back. When you put something positive out there, it brings positive energy back. I feel like if you want to beef go to the streets, beef with niggas that really wanna beef. If you have nothing to live for. Beef is not about money.
[With rap] it’s like, you ain’t going to see them people you beefing with. You lying. You got security, you’re never at the same events. It’s like you beefing in a smart way if you’re trying to come up. Then it’s like a competition, you know like a battle rap. But if you want to battle rap you might as well call Fight Club, get to battle rapping. Don’t act like you want problems.
You should avoid beef if you trying to make money. People get scared when you try to beef with people. In general, [even in street shit] nobody want to stand next to you if somebody about to shoot you, unless you have a a big lick [Ed. Note—A "lick" means a hustle.] They [used to] do that with 50 because 50 was the bank. They knew he was going to win. People ain’t doing that [anymore].
Complex: That reminds me The Godfather. When they’re at war and Clemenza says, “These things gotta happen every five years or so, 10 years. Helps to get rid of the bad blood. Been 10 years since the last one.” The last time we had it was when 50 went to war with everyone.
French Montana: That was 10 years ago.

I guess that “10 years ago” statement was what struck Fiddy’s nerve, but it really wasn’t that bad of a statement. That is… until French Montana responded to 50 Cent’s twitter rant with the following (which has since been deleted):

Regardless of his finances whenever he has new music out, he has his name in the news for “beef” with someone. Due to the fact that he is rich, he should no longer have to result to those tactics. I do agree with your statement “He is rich, he don’t need buzz”, too bad he doesn’t employ those tactics and get a proper PR team. He needs to grow up. I read the whole interview and I didn’t see anything that came off to me as disrespect. He was speaking the truth and people don’t always want to hear it.
He wanna know where 50 has been? Doing what most of you fly by night rappers wanna do, making enough money to live off of and dont have to write another song! All of these rappers talk about buying this and that, owning this and that, and making this and that amount of money. 50 cent can actually do that. He is an excellent business man.
Also, while 50 Cent went thru his baby mama drama I never heard his son’s mother say that he didn’t care for his child (she only kept asking for more). Didn’t French’s wife call him out on not only leaving her, but their child for a lil piece of ass and $$$? Have several seats Mr. Montana.
Even when she accused him of burning down her house, she implied that it was nice of him to do while their child wasnt home. Frenchie put the family to the back burner to sign with Puffy, Puffy of all people. Why anyone signs to Puffy is beyond me, you will definetly be on the "where are they now list".

Living in NYC, I use to be a big fan of 50 Cent; a fan, not a groupie. I never went to a concert and I never cared to meet him. I just liked his music. I had all of his hits long before he made it big. I was playing "Wangsta" long before he made the video. Anyway, I’m not a fan of 50 Cent anymore. Why? I have matured past the wanna-be-gansta-music. And not that I ever wanted to be a gangsta, myself. I just always liked hard beats and rhymes. I fear no man, but I never rolled around NYC like I was a tough guy. I’ve always had a career.
