Just last year it was revealed that Tyler Perry would soon be getting his own television network…

Apparently we got things mixed up… instead of launching his own network, Perry will be partnering with the OWN network, Oprah Winfrey’s cable network.
Perry has been plagued with unexplained fires in his Atlanta studio and Winfrey has been fighting for viewers to her network by interviewing artists she normally wouldn’t.
The two power players have now put their heads together to form a solid plan for an enlightening cable network.
OWN announced earlier today (Monday, October 1, 2012) that they have formed an exclusive partnership with Tyler Perry and Perry also announced the deal to his fans via his email distribution list.

The deal reportedly includes two new scripted series for the network that would premiere in mid-2013.
Perry’s OWN partnership designates the Oprah Winfrey Network the “singular destination” for any new television series or projects he develops in the future. (so bye-bye Turner!)
It also marks OWN’s first foray into original scripted series as the network eases into a groove after a questionable start.

Maybe he could save that network. I tried it in the beginning and it was boring. No I really dont rock with since she interviewing whomever for ratings. TP shows are funny and entertaining. So maybe I might actually go here instead of TBS.

We don’t have to support something that’s failing. Oprah had her chance to get millions viewers from the very beginning by taking on the cancelled soap operas, STUFF PEOPLE ACTUALLY WANT TO WATCH. She turned it down. Now she’s struggling cause no one gives two hoots about masterclasses, kindred spirits, inner truths, or random Oprah’s Next Chapter interviews. And they won’t care about Tyler Perry’s same ol gigs either.

R&R As a FAMILY we loved fridays because of Tyler and his sitcoms. His shows are something that everyone can enjoy even my little. With that being said I really hope Meet the Browns and House of Payne can make a comeback. It was refreshing to see TV without all the cursing, violence and negativity. It really gave me a feel for how thursdays were growing up with the Cosbys(great entertainment, pop corn, family, plenty of laughs)…we need that back!
I agree the Channel needs to be apart of basic cable to thrive. The programing has improved & I watch more often, but only on Saturday & Sunday. I think a partnership will be a plus for both of them. I just hope Tyler hires writers for the shows.
This is NEW to me! I guess because I have a network that does include her. My complaint on early programming was about lack of HD. Now that she has included TP and I do like the analyst Iylana Transvant? Her name is too hard to spell but her show is worth watching. I like the lineup of programming. Sweetie Pies seems like what Oprah thought "someone" wanted to see. I don’t think so. Oprah,in her own words "never really watched TV" So what or how could she know going in what WE as a current people of ALL nationalities wanted to see? She’s just made it to first base. PLEASE cancel those bad movies and keep Dr. Phil til’ you can fill your roster.
I would LOVE it if she included Nene Leakes as a talk show option. Nene is SOOoo current and NOT the ATL house wive’s character she portrayed. I am happy to hear that they are teaming up, however I hope they use this as an opportunity to make better shows. The shows that Tyler Perry makes shows black people in a bad light. We all enjoy watching good tv, but Meet the Browns and other shows he has aired on tv are just embarrassing. He has the ability to make a good show based off of watching The Family That Preys. Make a show that like that movie or one like The Cosby Show or A Different World. People love him so why not use that love to uplift the black community instead of just making us laugh at ignorant comedy.

This is Tyler’s opportunity to expand his brand. His business model has worked for years, but the market wants more quality. He seems trying to grow, but people only see Madea & the TPS brand. The shows will need better writing & quality production. I wish Ruben Cannon was still working with Tyler. I doubt if HOP will come back on. Lance, Keisha & Janine have moved on. This partnership isn’t going to work because Oprah’s shit is failing. He needs a real network if he plans on getting some shows off the ground. Had Oprah put All My Children on her network like she was asked to (duh!), instead of turning her nose up at it, she woulda had trillions of viewers out the gate. She needs to bring cancelled shows that pople still want to see to her network. No one cares to see any Tyler Perry shows. If you’ve seen one Tyler Perry show/movie, you’ve seen them all.
Well I think this partnership is an amazing thing. For one it’s nice to see our people coming together and create a force that I believe will make our people better. Tyler Perry’s shows could use some work but overall I’m a fan of all of his shows. I just see this as a really positive thing. This is how we as a people are supposed to function so we can continue to move forward. It takes coming together to support each other and when things come about that you have an opinion about take it straight to the powers that be through whatever form of communication they have open to us and lets learn an old lesson about keeping our family business (black businesses) in the family. Show public support instead of bashing and if you have ideas on how it can be better than let THEM know instead of getting on a blog and bashing them. We have to work together especially when it comes to people such as these two who give so much back to our people and people in general. I pray them all the success in the world and constant humility to go along with it.

I am 27 and I LOVE OWN! not so much the investigation/mystery shows, but Inyala and sweetie pies I love. I even like the master class and life class. I guess it depends on where you are in life. I have my on drama going on so to hear things that make a positive impact. not just chicks fighting. I love it!
I wondered why Tyler failed to get his own network? Hmmm.. I’m not too fond of TP being on OWN. His shows are too coonish for my taste and I would think for Oprah’s taste as well. I think Oprah is doing TP a favor by helping him. Fires, cancelled shows, box office bombs this year. Sounds to me like someone is in trouble.

the soccer mom women that love Oprah and have given her a gigantic portion of her base do not regularly watch Tyler Perry shows… two completely different demographics. She’s confusing people here… I hope they have something completely fresh up their sleeves
