Spike is most definitely jealous of Tyler’s success. How do I know this? Because Spike has not criticized other black filmakers like Carl Franklin, the Hughes brothers, Lee Daniels and others as they are no threat to his success. Tyler has made almost as many films as Spike (more if you include his stage plays made for DVD) and has become nearly a billionnaire and in a relatively short amount of time without graduating film school.

Rather than be proud, Spike has chosen to be a hater and criticize Tyler for achieving what Spike himself could not. Just as there are rap beefs, apparently there are film beefs.

Tyler Perry deals with issues that blacks face within their own communities and he makes those issues palatable by mixing in humor. He’s addressed domestic violence, child sexual abuse, infidelity, dysfunctional marriage and even touched on drug addiction. I think people focus too much on Madea. Madea is a tool to get people into the theater but she is not the center of all of his films.

If you’re smart, you know Madea is used to fool white people. She is the human equivalent of the drum back in slavery days. Messages are cloaked and only we intelligent black folk know how deep Tyler gets. Go on Tyler! To hell with all your haters!
