Actress Maia Campbell has had a rough couple of years but it seems that things are looking up for the former child star..
Maia seems to have regrouped and was recently spotted in a California mall rocking a shirt embroidered with the word ‘Hope’, happy and healthy with her young daughter by her side. 
Campbell, the daughter of late novelist Bebe Moore Campbell and former co-star of the television series “In The House,” became an internet sensation after she was caught on tape by an LA rapper who claimed she asked for crack cocaine in lieu of payment for appearing in his music video.
After the video went viral, it was soon revealed that the actress was suffering from mental illness in addition to her drug use.

Maia has been speaking out lately and she stopped for a moment to discuss her new projects.

In a video interview with Get Noticed Media, Maia discussed her plans to release a book that she wrote based on her life titled, ‘Sagittarius.’ She also expressed her desire for Tyler Perry to direct a film based on her mother’s book ’72 Hour Hold

Maia lost her mother in 2006 and recently lost her father as well, but she remains strong for her daughter. She wants everyone that was rooting for her to know that she’s on the road to recovery and she thanks well-wishers for their prayers.
‘I know the last time everyone saw me, I was way out there on the other stretch of the road. I got myself together, I’ve been sober for two years and I’ve been stable and very [aware] of how this industry works.
I’ve been in this industry since I was a little girl so I’m a professional. I am very able to jump back into these waters and swim deep and get it in. So let’s get it poppin’
I’m personally very happy that Maia is making her way back from the depths of addiction BUT is diving head first in the same murky industry waters that probably drove her to that dark place really the smartest thing to do at this point?

Coming back will take time. Substance abuse can be devastating but at least 1/3 of them have overcome that demon and went on to live successful lives. I can see her shout out to Tyler because he is like Moses when it comes to redirecting and giving opportunities to those who’ve fallen short of opportunities in entertainment industry or just don’t have avenues for their established talents,without judgements on WHY they are where they are and WHAT stumbling blocks got them there. God gave him what he gives to others and those who lament his gifts fall to the wayside and we know who they are.I wish her all the success that she can work hard to achieve.You go girl!!
I am so happy for her instead of everyone makeing matter’s worse someone should have stepped in long ago but God come’s right on time and she look’s great may God bless her!
I also say this because I personally have a sister who was a "Crackhead". She lived on the street because not just anyone,no matter how much you love them,can take them into your home.She,by God’s grace and being tired of that life DID change. I’m proud of her. I took her to Disney a few years ago and have given her all the material things that she still cannot believe were so easy to attain.In turn,she helps the homeless (because she knows their stories firsthand)and is blessed with a beautiful dwelling.At present,I’m searching for a kitten to replace a love that’s unconditional.Maia will be just fine in time.
@Joy Ann Payne; It’s NEVER too late. And she is still young. Those YouTube vids will be forgotten and not even associated to her if she in earnestly tries. It’s amazing how many strangers are rooting for you when informed of your struggle and the fact that you WANT this change.

I think she touched on something that a lot of people would like to see instead of a movie about her mother’s work, I think sitting down with Tyler and making an story on her life would be a great movie on move on Tyler’s part.

IMO she needs to sit down somewhere and let God do the rest. That girl has a history of Depression and Bipolar Disorder which was diagnosed evident waaaaaaay before her mama died. Honestly, there’s no way in the world she can get it together without a TEAM of medical providers and mental health workers. When people are clean for 3 months they think they can take on the world. And it’s simply not true. That false sense of sobriety causes alot of folks to relapse and end up like Whitney Houston, Amy Whinehouse, Brittney Murphy, and all the rest. I have no desire to see her in any movie or sitcom. How did the paps know she was out shopping??? With a HOPE tshirt??? LMBAO!!! Really??

Maia is still apparently very fragile and instead of looking to get back into an industry that almost killed her & get it POPPING as she puts it, she needs to take her precious daughter by the hand away from California and focus on her so that she too doesn’t end up a statistic and victim of the Drug game. Two years clean is like two days clean in drug rehab and she is in no way ready to be under the same stress as she once was. In 12 steps programs aren’t you suppose to remove yourself from the surroundings that may cause you to relapse back into your old self destructing habits?? She’s setting herself up for failure once again and that’s really sad…

I am so happy that she bounced back..This is proof that anything is possible.
A lot of show kids have that mentality. The industry may be all she knows and she is probably more disciplined in doing what she is told to gain the reward of a very important person. She’d probably rather make good money to support her daughter in a way that’s second nature to her.
I’m glad to hear she’s doing well. I imagine she’s been through some things far worse than what has been publicized and she is back and still beautiful as ever.
