Way before Phaedra Parks was a Real “Housewife” of Atlanta, she was a high-profile defense attorney representing a slew of celebrity clients.
Parks recently shared a video via her new website, EverybodyKnowsPhaedra, that consists of a few highlights of her legal career.
It’s no secret that Parks is my favorite RHOA cast member and those who have been in Atlanta “pre-RHOA” will tell you she is quite respected around town.
Watching this footage actually proves what I already knew, but I can honestly say it’s enlightening to see a career woman doing her thing!

In the footage, Parks is shown as she represents Bobby Brown during his trial for assaulting wife Whitney Houston in 2004, she shares legal insight during news coverage of the Michael Jackson’s molestation trial in 2005, and in 2006, she provides pro-bono representation during the retrial of Lena Sims Driskell, an 81-year-old woman convicted in 2006 of shooting her 85 year-old former boyfriend, Herman Winslow.

I agree with ms thang and Mary. If she was a high profile attorney all her ratings were dropped when she had to meet her client and he pulls out that kinda cash. I’m not making any assumption about his career but it does look fishy and she should’ve warned him or then again dude probably wanted that kind of attention. Ijs. I’ve never seen a attorney collect cash from their client ever. It has to be a check or at least money order. That seen was so messy on so many levels.
I like the video as a display of her intelligence and legal professionalism. But it makes me scratch my head in comparison to the character that is on RHOA. She’s too smart to dumb herself down for a series.

Team Phaedra! I think she looks nice in the clips. On the show she is a little overly made up at times.
Also after viewing the esposide where she accepted a wad of cash in a parking lot,I didnt get the impression (not that I ever had it) that she was a high powered, well respected attorney.
And bragging about her represnting Bobby Brown is like me weighing 250lbs but constantly saying I weighed 140 lbs in college….bish that was 15 years…thangs have changed

Child please, their are three professions that will never go out of business that’s doctors, lawyers and hoes. Say what you will about Pheadra but in my opinion she’s funny and intellectual. Whatever she does off the clock he her personal affairs, just as long as she’s winning cases and postponing jail time she’s a winner.She may not be the only black attorney that’s a woman but I’ll bet in 5 seconds you couldn’t name another.

Have to agee with Mary on this. Phaedra is holding on to what was…and my best guess is that is why she decided to join the cast of RHOA. Yes Phaedra is a good attorney with a good reputation in the entertainment industry, but her reputation within the legal community is a little different. I truly believe that no self-respecting person of real intregrity would allow themselves to be denigrated by a show like RHOA for fame and fortune. It is fortune that Phaedra’s after I believe. Promoting Willie Watkins and Ridickulous is a part of her quest for that fortune, only she has to become a first-class fool to do it. Just because you’re from the south does not make you a Southern belle, there is much more to it than that and Phaedra fails in many ways in that regard.

NewMeKnowYou : in one second, Angela Adams, a black female attorney with Alston & Bird, if you need more check with Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) most of these attorneys work with high profile legal firms who have major corporations as their clients. As opposed to their clientele, Phaedra’s work with Bobby Brown is way, way down the totem pole. Just because Phaedra may be the only black female attorney you know, does not mean there are not plenty of high-powered black women attorneys in the state of Georgia, don’t get it twisted. And most display a certain dignity and Southern belleness that is straight up from the word go. Phaedra knows she can pass of her dark wit, humor and sarcastiness to some people as harmless, but to others is just mere sluttishness.
Phaedra is a smart woman and smart women rock. Love her to pieces.

I never said that they weren’t any other black female attorneys, I have little knowledge of attorney’s cause I have no need for one neither is it my profession. Glad to know that YOU CAN do research though. Furthermore how would you know how these women conduct themselves in their private lives. Pheadra acts accordingly when she’s in front of dignitary she conducts herself in a demeanor that is fit for a southern belle. You don’t know what those other women are doing on their off time, they could be fucking horses for all you know.

I was simply directing you to a spot where you could see a host of black female attorneys. I, however; have been a part of the legal profession for years and know how important perception is to a practicing attorney male or female. I also never said that I knew how these particular women conduct themselves in private…just simply pointing in their direction for clarification they do exist. I know no more of what is going on behind close doors of private lives than you do. Have you personally seen how Phaedra conducts herself with dignitaries? I"m sure she does what any good professional would do — be professional. Not that big of a deal just expressing myself like you. I agree with all who say that Phaedra’s pseudo-prestigous persona as a lawyer is down played by the fact that she is portraying herself as a ghetto, hot mess on RHOA. While it may be true that she was a rising star in Atlanta 10-15 yrs ago (local); she is acting like a classless, hypocritical, horny fool for all the world to see today (world-wide).
Like she said to Nene at the last Reunion, "Your fame is associated with this show. I already had fame before the show". Then Nene said, "Yeah, but you’re on the same show with me"! Really, why do a show that is seemingly beneath your station??? Sounds like her money may have gotten a little funny and I know aint nobody checking for her since trying to be the "Southern Belle" on RHOA.
Let’s be real…She just doesn’t convey confidence to me…I mean really…the reason that she put the videos out is because the REAL FAKEDRA is coming out and Bob showed her behind up in court.
I like Phaedra.. I think she has a positive presence amongst the RHOA.. She’s human and that’s what I think ppl are forgetting.. She’s an attorney who married a convicted felon so it don’t get no real’er than that nor does that devalue her as a professional.. I think she’s an inspiration to alot of ppl and that’s partially why she’s on the show.. You can be classy, professional, intelligent, funny, and freaky all at the same time..I will agree tho sometimes she makes me wonder, but that’s with everybody.. With her it can sometimes be too much thought or sometimes too little.. The worst I’ve seen of her do was the Ridikulus fiasco.. That was a bit much and something she should have kept to herself.. But other than that I think she has represented black women well especially southern black women.. And there’s nothing wrong with being a freak so I’m #TeamPhaedra….

She is a terrible attorney in my opinion
I like Phaedra on RHOA and I think it’s great seeing a black female making moves, but I think people (including herself) pump up her professional career more than what it really is. She’s had a few, a FEW, celebrity/high-profile cases, but she’s not Johnny Cochran, now. I doubt a super successful attorney would be on a reality TV show because they wouldn’t have time.
Phaedra is the the truth, the classiest of them all showing a better example of the black woman.
Can’t hear that song without dancing.Drowning in middle-aged nostalgia here, as Soul Train was a young childhood show to me.I was also believing that the 70s were the peak years for Soul Train. Mavis Staples,Gladys Knight,etc.If Don Cornelius had died in New Orleans,he’d obtain a jazz funeral using the Rebirth Brass Band playing "I Seem like Funking it Up" completely back through the cemetary.
