J-hud, who recently shot a spread for Vanity Fair magazine, is rumored to have placed a contract on a huge home in her hometown of Chicago.

The 12,000 square foot mansion is reportedly located in the Burr Ridge neighborhood of Chicago suburbs. It has six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two partial bathrooms.

…newly svelte Oscar- and Grammy-winning former American Idol Jennifer Hudson has signed the necessary papers to purchase a titanic 12,000 square foot mansion in Burr Ridge, IL, an affluent suburb about a half hour drive southwest of Chicago’s Loop.
The very trad mansion (shown above) was originally listed in 2006 at $4,200,000 and the listing agent told real estate gossip Dennis Rodkin at Chicago Magazine “It’s an over-$3 million house.”
Well, apparently it’s not since the hulking house was last listed at $2,795,000 and although the purchase price has yet to be revealed it seems unlikely Miss Hudson would agree to pay more than the asking price.

Gorgeous! Sometimes homes are more beautiful when kept simple without all those impulsive amenities.Like T.I.’s home, beautiful on the outside but Tiny is killing it on the inside.

Her home is lovely! She doesn’t have that fullness in her face anymore, so she may need a slight nip tuck to tighten round the mouth area. She is a pretty black positive woman!

Beautiful home, she deserves it! Hard working, intelligent, kind, appears to be a wonderful Mother and partner. She’s overcome so much adversity in such a short period of time, absolutely inspiring.
Jennifer looks very aged! The face looks worked on…minus the mouth. This house does not have her stamp on it yet; let’s hope these are the staging items left until the ink dries. But did anyone catch that she didn’t buy this house until after David signed the pre-nup?

Love the kitchen. Her mouth looks funny because the artist made an executive decision to decrease Jennifer’s lip line to make her lips appear slightly smaller. Unnecessary. Great shade of red.
Jennifer’s face does look a bit old, especially around the mouth. It’s because of her weight loss and I don’t know if there’s much she can do about it, unless she gets surgery, which I DON’T recommend. And her lace wigs don’t be on point either. I can see the lace in this pic. I wonder how that bad boy looks in person?
The house is nice…way better than ANYTHING I’ll ever have, but I hope that furniture will go, because it’s ugly. And although I love the size of her kitchen, I’m not a fan of those cabinets. I’d like something a bit more modern looking with glass and the cabinets a slightly different color. Burr Ridge is nice, but the really rich folks live in Barrington, IL. I’m shocked she’s not there…and I’d add a huge privacy gate around my house, too, if I was her. She’s a celeb….you shouldn’t be able to just walk up to her door and ring her bell.
I love her new mansion, but more than that I love the fact that she didn’t leave Chicago. She’s still right here in her native town. God bless her and her family!!!
