Actress Holly Robinson Peete is best known for her dramatic efforts on 21 Jump Street and Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper, so she should know a thing or two about being a black actress in Hollywood. Right?
The actress, who hilariously chose Lil Wayne as this year’s Halloween costume, appeared with her three kids for the premiere of “Happy Feet” at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on November 13, 2011 in Hollywood, California.
Holly is all smiles in the photos, but in a recent interview, Holly gives her 2cents about Tyler Perry’s decision to cast Kim Kardashian in his latest film, The Marriage Counselor.

“We can always count on Tyler Perry to give a ‘blacktress’ a job,” Holly says about the director, who is famous for his movies highlighting strong African American female roles.
Kim Kardashian, who has a minor role in Tyler Perry‘s The Marriage Counselor as the main character’s co-worker, shot a few scenes in Atlanta last week, but recently returned home to L.A.
Kim’s casting in the movie has sparked a ton of debate amongst some TP fans, who have threatened to boycott the film, and irks the female contingent of the African American acting community.
Holly says, “All across the world ‘blacktresses’ are upset.”
Despite some ruffled feathers, Holly agrees that Kim’s casting is a strategic move for Tyler.
It’s [an] amazing PR move. It’s actually pretty smart and the timing is great.
Like her brand, this drama will be good for the film. So, it’s actually kind of brilliant in a way… I don’t have any problems with it.

“In a grass roots effort, we have collected [thousands of] signatures for a petition asking E! Entertainment to remove the Kardashian suite of shows from their programming,” petition organizer Cyndy Snider said in a statement.
“We feel that these shows are mostly staged and place an emphasis on vanity, greed, promiscuity, vulgarity and over-the-top conspicuous consumption.” (source)

They don’t need a petition to get rid of the Kardashian’s. If people say they don’t like them, their shows or their brands, then they need to stop watching their shows and buying their products. LOL. If they weren’t getting the ratings or their products weren’t selling then companies wouldn’t finance their brand. That’s why I don’t watch their shows or buy any of their products cause I’m just SICK OF SEEING THEM! LOL.
We all need to send a clear message to Kim K. Boycott everthing associated with her. She will soon get the message. I do believe strongly that she needs a wake-up call.

I just don’t understand the logic behind a boycott of the movie or her shows. Who cares if she isn’t black…we always scream we are tired of race being an issue but we are now saying Kim shouldn’t be in Tyler’s movie because she is white? Seriously? ATLien what do you mean "let kim be great". Great at what? Kim having a small part in the TP movie is a wrap. I have decided to boycott the movie myself. Even though these reality shows can be somewhat entertaining for adults, I truly think that these shows are a perfect example of how not to live your life. Guess we will c when the movie comes out. A few yrs back I went to a tp book signing & after “meeting” him in person I refuse to support him in n/e way. Same with KK, I liked her until I started watching her show. I couldn’t understand why so many people disliked her….now I know. She def doesn’t have middle child syndrome, she’s a spoiled brat, her moms favorite child, and just annoying and needy. Parents aren’t supposed to have faves between their children.
I am white, in my 50′s and love TP movies. They are inspirational and the lesson learned in the end is spot on. I guess the new life lesson will be that money grubbing gold diggers always come up first.
