When Harris popped the question to his girlfriend, his new fiance’ may have already known he was a convicted felon who had served his time, but the diamond ring(s) he slid on her finger probably erased any doubts she may have been having.
That soon changed when police tracked down the ‘bride-to-be’ and literally snatched her new bling from her fingers!
Yeah… her man had finally asked her to marry him, but her ex-con boo had asked her to share the rest of their lives together with rings he’d stolen elderly crime victim!
According to Chicago Tribune, Raymond Harris, attacked a 73-year old nurse named Virginia Perillo, and killed her in her garage.
Harris robbed the elderly woman as she was getting out of her car at her home. He savagely beat her in the head until she was unresponsive and then pried her wedding rings off her finger.
A longtime nurse at Rush University Medical Center, Perillo suffered serious head wounds and never regained consciousness before dying the next day.
On the night of the assault, Harris went to a party wearing “brand new clothes” and showed the rings off to a witness, asking which of them he should use to propose to his girlfriend. He later proposed using both rings
Harris’ was arrested after his DNA was discovered on a blood-stained man’s watch found in the victim’s vehicle.
The woman’s family members identified the fiance’s rings as those that were taken from the elderly woman, so Harris is being charged with first degree murder and armed robbery.
Harris is a parolee that has a vicious criminal history. In 1997, he was sentenced to 30 years for raping and beating a woman then setting her house on fire. Obviously, he got out early. He only served 16 years of the sentence. Records also showed that he was convicted in 1993 and given six years for armed robbery. Another sentence he didn’t complete.
