Antonia “Toya” Carter was a vision in white as she prepared for her upcoming nuptials to the love of her life Mickey “Memphitz” Wright.
Toya headed back to her home in New Orleans this past weekend for a bridal shower hosted by a slew of her close girlfriends and family.
As Toya stated in our EXCLUSIVE One on One a few months back, she is looking forward to the next stage of her life, hoping to shed the stigma attached to being identified only as Lil Wayne’s ex-wife/baby mama.
Sometimes you get drowned in someone else’s shadow and people only look at you as that person’s “ex” or that person’s “baby mama”, when you were much more.
I was much more than that, I was his ex-wife… and that’s my past.
So, I just want people to leave that in the past and let me live my life. I’ve moved on, I have a NEW man and new things that I’m doing.

I am so happy for her! Despite the way reality tv portrays many ppl, she comes across as a sincere and genuine person. I hope their marriage will be a long and blessed one!
She’s not a baby momma but an ex-wife and mother of his acknowledged child. A baby momma is just some random ho that got knocked up but the dude don’t claim her or the kid.
Anyway, glad she’s getting married and moving on but I have a couple questions.
1. Who is this dude she’s marrying? I’ve never heard of him outside of him dating her.

I agree w/ some of the above statements. Toya is always the first one to bring up "I don’t want to be known as Lil Wayne’s bm", but honey you just brung it up again (xxxxxxxx number of times). Also, you want your own identity and deassociate yourself w/ him, but yet he writes the forward to your book, yeah ok. This woman is a matriarch in the true sense of the word. I’m an African woman and I know African values when I see it, and her matriarchal approach to family truly embodies those traditions and values. I’m in awe.
She has a strong sense of family and has a great head on her shoulders. She encourages her daughter’s education, as well as that of her brothers. She’s very humble and ridiculously pretty (a rare combination). She adores her mother and really stands by her family.
NO ONE on this website is in a position to play moral authority with this woman. If you’d stop foaming at the mouths with envy and judgment, you could learn a lot from this woman. She is beyond her years.

When a man leaves a woman, married or not, she is referred to by him as his baby mama. If he is calling her an ex-wife, how is that better? Your only common bond is your children, your marriage to him is over and now insignificant to him. When he leads and especially when he remarries he does not hold his ex wife to a higher esteem than he would a baby mama because his NEW and CURRENT wife is now his family and his only bond with his ex is the children that they have together. If a woman wants to make herself feel better by saying that she is not to him a "baby mama" then that’s cool by her, but once a divorce has happened… all of the should have could have beens are gone and his only bond with you is the children, just as if you were never married… he will likely move on and marry another woman, as my Father did. Women just like to make themselves feel better with the non significant titles of ex-wife. It’s all one in the same. The past is the past, focus on the children.
