Ok… so Oprah Winfrey may not have given away a car, a house… or even a “favorite thing” but she did give the world a hole hour of life lessons.
In her final show from the HARPO studios stage, Oprah shared a heartfelt “love letter” to the fans that validated and supported her throughout her 25 years on air.
“This, my last show, is my thank you. It’s a love letter to you,” Oprah told viewers.
It was just a week ago, that we all were in denial. It finally hit me when I realized I may NEVER fulfill one of my goals of seeing Oprah live in her studio (onstage or off).
But God is good… and as Oprah said on her finale’s show, “I understand the manifestation of grace, and there are no coincidences.”
So I have more thing I can mark off my bucket list…

I’ve been catching alot of flack about my “Black Jesus” tweet (courtesy of SandraRose *sigh*) but you know what… in the imortal words of CeeLo Green… “FUC–GET Y’ALL!”
Try disputing the fact that Oprah was heaven sent. Think about a world where she’d never been born and all the people who would have never been touched by her spirit and actions.
Oprah has touched thousands upon thousands of lives through her humanitarian efforts and through her words of wisdom every day on “The Oprah Winfrey” show.
Heck… she even had her own angels! And what…!
Over the course of 25 years, Oprah has transformed herself into something far bigger than a talk show host, and to me she’s an iconic symbol of inspiration, passion, dedication and faith.
She’s been my personal idol and mentor in my head. I’ve learned how to be financially savvy and took notes on every “Oprah-ism” imaginable. Everyone talks about her billions but I’d rather have a piece of her mentality.
No one’s a saint… but can you honestly think of anyone who’s closer to being one?
Oprah referred to her show as her classroom and listed the lessons she’s learned and/or taught about love, energy, forgiveness and self worth.
[sidebar: I'm so guilty of that... and the last thing I need are diverted blessings.]
For 25 years Oprah taught us that while we are all human with faults, loving ourselves… believing in ourselves… and following your passion are the keys to fulfilling your heart’s desire.
We often drown out our inner voices… that “whisper” we hear is usually God speaking. Oprah reminded us to stop, be still and listen.
My personal favorite “Oprah-ism” is “God can dream bigger dream for you could have EVER dreamed for yourself”.
And while we’re all somber about the show ending, It’s not the end for Oprah by a long shot. As Miss. O said in her finale exit from the stage… “it’s not good-bye, but until we meet again.”
Her new show, “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” begins this fall on OWN, The Oprah Winfrey Network and I’m sure she will be trotting around the globe spreading her light and love…. but that doesn’t mean we won’t still have an empty hour in our homes at 4:00pm every day…

I looked THEE whole hour for you and my Drama I half saw her touch your hand cause I was being a crybaby and muh eyes was burning. But I’m glad you got to experience this. And that other thing *sighs with you* nevermind I get what you were saying. Ole messy self.
I’m happy that YOU of all people got to experience this ATLien. I’ve been reading you for years and just like Oprah you are getting better each day. Don’t let the Devil distract you. There will be people who talk about you and even your "friends" may turn against you but What God has planned for you is written in stone and no one can take what is yours.
I’m looking forward to witnessing YOU and your destiny because your light is shining and unlike some of these other "bloggers" YOU have talent.
That photo is symbolic and looks like Queen O has passed you the torch. How on earth did you get those tickets? I wouldn’t be surprised to find out you were chosen to be there in that spot.

ATLien I’m in awe of you! If I would have touched her hand I would be in intensive care right now! I used to stand in front of the tv when she used to come out of the tunnel on her show! I just can’t imagine what you felt like to be that close and then she reaches up to touch you!Of course I recorded all three shows,but now I’ve rewound and froze you and Oprah at least six times!The article you’ve written about her and what she’s meant to you I hope will be one that she reads and makes reference to on her show because you definitely captured the incredible spiritual event with your excellent text.Thank you for sharing,and about that "Black Jesus" thing?…Jesus smiles that Oprah represents Him.You now have the "Oprah Touch",…get ready for your blessings girl!

Blah blah blah whatever. I’m sure there would have been another Oprah if Oprah wasn’t born. Just like there were a strong group of blacks fighting for our rights, there’s someone whose doing the same shit Oprahs doing (helping people) but with less fortune and fame. She’s just a figure head, that’s it.
And a SHOUT OUT to ALL those "Oprah Like" angels!
ATLien, we all have our own feelings and opinions on Lady O, but in this life, if you can reach but one, you’ve done something right. I’m glad to see that you are fulfilling a dream, not everyone gets such opportunities.

Sitting there I felt as if we were in class and it was just she and I (teacher/student). Her words were so powerful and the emotion there was sooooo thick! Drama and I both cried through the entire show.
I really didn’t "see" it until it aired and I’ve watched it twice since then.

Simply beautiful. I saw the tweets on the day of the final show but have just now been able to read this post. I’m again moved to tears. Simply beautiful. I agree with some of the other commenters above – the handshake between you and Oprah feels symbolic. Go for yours young lady. When you hear the whispers, acknowledge them and obey!
