Meet Kristina Maronie of Atlanta. Kristina was arrested yesterday evening (April 13, 2010) when she got home from working her overnight job and called 911 to report her 4-year old son missing.
What she didn’t know was that the young boy had already been found wandering around her southwest Atlanta apartment complex, after she left the child home ALONE while she went to work!
According to the AJC, a resident of the Woods at Glenrose apartments on Mt. Zion Road called police about 2:30 a.m. after noticing the boy walking around shoeless and wearing only boxer shorts.
“We tried to get him to show us where he lived,” Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs said.
“He wanted a piggyback ride, so one of my sergeants put him on his shoulders and said he would give him a piggyback ride if he showed us where he lived and carried him about four blocks and the house he showed us wasn’t the house,” Hobbs told the AJC before daybreak.
“So, he got his piggyback ride, and we don’t know where he lives.”
Shortly after 7:30 a.m., the mystery was solved when a woman from the same complex called police to report that her son was missing.
Apparently 30-year-old Kristina Maronie had left the child at home overnight while she went to work!
“The mother came home, noticed the child missing and called police,” Jones said.
Maronie was then arrested and charged with reckless conduct and taken to the Fulton County Jail where she smiled for the mugshot above, while her son was placed in the custody of the Division of Family and Children Services.

Well the lady looks like she can’t wait to reunite with her girlfriend behind bars,but more importantly i’m questioning the officer who so eagerly thru the 4yr old damn near naked boy up on his shoulders for a piggy back ride. I love kids but that seems unappropriate to me

yeah that is suspect. put some clothes on the child and make sure he is fed and that he understands the only family he has and has ever known is about to be demolished. This poor woman apparently is not only apparently broke but too dumb to care for a child. No telling how many times she has left the child alone.

She could have got a babysitter…..the child will be sleep…and where in the hell is babydaddy?

Where is the kid’s daddy? Why not place him with the baby daddy? why is he not being blamed for not steeping up in this situation. Is he out of state? incarcerated? new baby mama? Stop over crowding ACS and give these kids a chance at a normal life.

We all want to just judge her and yes she should have had a baby sitter. But how do we know if she had any help with her son? Where is his father? Maybe grandma or auntie don’t have time or just not around. Maybe she looks like that because she is relieved that she doesn’t have to worry about where he is at anymore and he is safe. If she really didn’t care about her child I don’t think she would have called him in missing.
