Hair/Make-up extraordinaire Dariel D. Pulliam, Jr. passed away in the early morning hours of April 5, 2011.
You may recognize Dariel’s beautiful face from my “Boy You So Pretty” posts or perhaps you remember him as Neffe’s right hand man.
Most recently, Dariel worked as the make-up artist on Chilli’s reality show and besides celebrity faces & hair, he could also be found making “everyday” women beautiful over on Peter Street.
I’ve encountered Dariel several times throughout the years and he’s even done my makeup a few times.
It’s always been a joy to be in his presence. There was never a dull moment and Dariel always had that big smile on his face.
Dariel was hospitalized recently and diagnosed with a Staph infection.
Many of his associates and even several of his close friends were unaware that he was even sick, so you can imagine our surprise when we heard the news of his death in the early morning hours yesterday.
Dariel was just out partying a few weeks ago, so news of his passing is devastating at best.
The friends who knew of his illness all say that Dariel was talking and texting as recently as a few days ago, so news of his death sent shock waves around the entertainment industry.
My heart and prayers go out to Dariel’s family. He will definitely be missed, but his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched…
R.I.P. Dariel… another sad reminder that life is way too short.
what!?!?! i can’t believe this. this guy had big dreams of being larger than he was. my heart goes out to his family and especially neffe.
kinda strange how i would just look at him and just wonder…never expectin him 2 pass away. i was just ready to see him on their new reality show.

Its always sad when someone so young passes away seems like they never really reached their potential and all that life has to offer…I have never meet this person nor do I have issues with homosexuality but lets be realistic AIDS is a huge problem in our society and people always trying to over it up with other illnesses. I’m not sure in this situation but I just hope that our young people are starting to understand that the disease is real, alive and doesn’t discriminate!!!
Gone too soon! RIP Dariel. You will be missed by many.

@DetroitGirl How do you just come up and speak about AIDS because of his lifestyle. He had a Staph infection and it’s just as worse as having AIDS! It’s very deadly and highly contagious. Even coming in contact with someone who has it and just shaking hands is very deadly you can say. This infection spreads faster than running water. Please people read about this Staph infection, because the media isn’t making it like it’s a big deal. It’s very scary and just like any other life threading disease, it doesn’t discriminate! RIP Dariel.
Very sad to hear this, I am sure this a huge lost for the Atlanta area. Prayers go out to his family and friends. Way too young to go.

Kortney u reading my mind gurl! I did not see this coming at all. He was only 29. Who dies at 29? I bet Neffe is broken up over this. He seemed to be the only one that ever did her hair and they have a slew of vids on YT of them just traveling or hanging out. Prayers for his parents too.

They’re saying on other sites that he was HIV positive which compromises your immune system and makes you more susceptible to other diseases. If he had a staph infection he could have caught it at the hospital because they are not always clean. Other sites are saying he had fluid in his lungs and I don’t know how taht happens unless he was swimming and accidentally took water in (dry drowning). Anyway, 29 is too young to die for anyone in this age of advanced medicine. I hope his family is not afraid to publish the truth because it can help others. Didn’t know he worked with Chili. Is she even commenting on this yet? Kandi jumped on her tweet.

Dear Father God: Please see to it that this young man rests in peace dear Lord. See to it that his family and friends find comfort in knowing that he loved them and will always be with them in spirit. Father God please put your healing hands on the souls of all of those who are left in pain by this young man’s passing. Father God please also put your hands on the souls of those who condemn this young man without ever knowing him, ever speaking to him or ever being touched by his words of encouragement or words that may have been spoken to make someone feel better when they may have been down and out. They speak out of ignorance and shallowness. But please forgive them as this young man probably would have done. We all understand that we are ALL your children Father and we ALL love you. This young man graced this earth with his presence Father God and only you know why you needed him back so soon. I pray that everyone on this site who has made a negative or positive comment about this young man sleeps well tonight Lord. I pray that they are safe, without harm, and fully understand that you hear and see everything. In Jesus Name, Amen

Uh A.Mar83, it’s always important to know how someone so young just ups and dies because there may be have been some medical condition that others should know about so they can catch the signs early and save their own loved ones. You sound ignorant saying it doesn’t matter how someone dies. IT ALWAYS MATTERS! 29 year olds just don’t up and drop dead! If someone you knew or cared about just up and died I’m sure you would want to know why and how.
p.s. God didn’t call him. God wants everyone to live out their old age and have peace. Cases like this are just accidental, preventable and sometimes hereditary..all depends. People get murdered…that aint part of God’s plan. GTFOHWTBS
