News spread quickly over the weekend that Wyclef Jean had been shot in the hand while assisting in the Haitian presidential campaign.
Joe Mignon, senior program director for Jean’s Yele Foundation, says Jean was shot in the hand after 11 p.m. Saturday March 19, 2011 in the city of Delmas, just outside Port-au-Prince. The shooting happened in the Delmas section of the capital, Port-au-Prince, after 11 p.m. said Joe Mignon, senior program director for Jean’s Yele Foundation.
Jean was treated at a hospital and later released.
In case you’re wondering why the former Fugee was released from the hospital so quickly… Well it may be because that “bullet” was actually just a piece of flying glass… *sigh*
According to BlackMediaScoop:
Sunday morning everyone was freaking out about reports that Wyclef Jean was shot in the hand over in Haiti as residents got ready to vote for a new president.
Now cops say Wyclef is lying!
Jean claims a bullet grazed his hand as he stepped out of a car to make a phone call, but local police claim he was only injured by glass.
“The way I can explain it is that the bullet grazed me in my right hand,” says Wyclef, who has been in Haiti campaigning for Michel (Sweet Micky) Martelly. “I heard blow, blow, blow and I just looked at my hand.”
Cops say baloney, he only suffered a minor cut to his hand from glass in an apparent accident.
Vanel Lacroix, police chief in Petionville where Jean is staying told Reuters, “We met with the doctor who saw him and he confirmed Wyclef was cut by glass.” READ MORE
