Songstress Christina Aguilera totally effed up the national anthem during Superbowl 2011 in a big way.
Christina started off well enough, but instead of singing “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming,” Christina inserted “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming.”
Aguilera has since admitted her flub and defends herself in a prepared statement released immediately after her historic performance.

Aguilera speaks out about her National Anthem scandal in a statement released to the AP after the performance:
“I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.
… and we can only hope that next time (if there IS a next time) you don’t forget the lyrics.
