The cast of the 1999 wedding flick, “The Best Man” got together over the weekend for a reunion dinner of sorts.
Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Terence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Harold Perrineau, Regina Hall, Melissa De Sousa, Monica Calhoun and director Malcolm Lee all attended the dinner, which was held last weekend (January 29, 2011) in West Hollywood.
I’m sure they shared stories about how far they’ve come in the past 12 years since making the Black film favorite.

Lee, director of The Best Man and other pop culture films such as Roll Bounce, Soul Man and Undercover Brother, shared his feelings about the reunion of his talented cast, stating:
“… It’s hard to believe we all haven’t been in the same space for over 12 years, but it was like we’ve seen each other everyday.
It was a joy to reunite with the “Black Pack”, one of the best casts ever assembled in my view. Judging from the laughs, conversation and smiles we’d all love to find a way to collaborate again. God willing it’ll happen.”
Funny he should mention that… word on the curb is that Lee, who happens to be Spike Lee’s cousin (directing must run in the family) has been rallying for a sequel to the hit flick. He recently revealed to a group of students at Regents University that he would consider filming a sequel if the Facebook Fan Page dedicated to the film received more fans.
I’m not sure how that would get a movie made, but perhaps fan interest is the first step.
There are several Black culture films that I would love to see as sequels:
Love Jones – I’d love to see if Darius & Nina actually got married and what their lives are like now
Something New – Did Kenya (Sanaa) and that white dude make it? Did she stay weave free?
Oh… and let’s not forget ATL ~ I bet Nu-Nu (Lauren London) probably dropped out of college and had a few kids and Rashad (T.I.) is still at Cascade skating rink.
Are there any film sequels would you be interesting in seeing?
