A federal judge has sentenced rapper T.I. (real name is Clifford Harris) to 11 months jail time on probation violation charges.
Tip appeared before U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell Jr. today (October 15, 2010) at 2 p.m.
He was represented by a team of six attorneys, including Don Samuel, Ed Garland, Steve Sadow, Janice Capek, Kristen Wright and Dwight Thomas.
T.I. was still on probation for federal weapons charges when he was arrested Sept. 1 on drug charges in Los Angeles. He and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, were taken into custody during a traffic stop in West Hollywood in which deputies said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana from inside the car. They were both released on bond.
After the arrest, the rapper’s probation officer filed documents claiming that Tip violated 3 Key Items during the arrest and recommended the hip-hop star spend up to 14 months in jail if found to have breached court regulations.
According to TMZ – T.I. told the judge he needed help for drug addiction and begged not to be sent back to prison. Officer James Polite, one of the officers from Wednesday’s jumper incident testified on T.I.’s behalf
During the hearing, a small fire broke out on the side of the courthouse, causing a stir, but the proceedings continued.
The rapper’s defense attorneys argued that drugs in his system were the result of a root canal and T.I. admitted to using the drugs, after he had dental surgery. He also asked the judge to sentence him to rehab for drug addiction but he was sentenced to 11 months in prison instead.
“I screwed up,” said Harris, wearing a three-piece gray suit. “I screwed up bigtime, and I’m sorry. I’m truly and sincerely sorry. I don’t want and I don’t need to use drugs anymore. I want them out of my life.
Tip will have to surrender to officials in two weeks to begin serving his jail time on November 1st. [Via AJC]

Well he made the first step in getting help when he told the Judge he needs help with his drug desires. I pray that he will mature and surrender his ways so that he can get on with his life.
Ti can’t appeal his case because he was caught red handed with the drugs..he’s stupid for fighting the 11 months when he couldve got more time dat nig is ungreatful and they shouldve gave him the book like they wouldve done me..who is ti??? I wish him the best seriously hope that this is indeed the last time. Its easy for us to say on the outside looking in but I hope for the sake of their kids they do get this together.
TI got lucky again. Probably because he is a likeable guy. Get your stuff together TI. You will not keep getting breaks. No one is above the law. If you are serious about doing the right thing, arrange drug rehab or counseling while you are locked up. Use the time to do some soul searching. You are a father and kids emulate behavior. Your worst nightmare is that one of your children mimicks your behavior. You have an opportunity STILL to make good with your life. Don’t throw it away hanging with felons, using drugs or just in general, doing things that will violate your probation. When one reaches your stature, there are people that you must leave behind. I like TI but he has got to be one of the most stupid mofos on Earth! He just got out of jail in March (I believe) and now his dumb butt is headed back to prison for almost a year.

Wow!..so he just so happened to be able to talk someone down from committing suicide a day or so before his trial and then, it just so happened to be a fire while he is in court..wow..a lot of things to try and distract everyone from what he did…this is funny and a coincidence..didnt a fire break out at the courthouse in which Lil Wayne was to have his trial at and his case kept getting pushed back because of the smoke damages and other things…what are these rappers trying to do?
