Friends and family members of the teen twins have come forward to say they’re not surprised at all by the allegations that the girls brutally murdered their mother.
The girls, known as “Tas” and “Jas,” were once honor students and Girl Scouts but had become extremely difficult for their mother to handle.
“The girls wanted to do what they wanted to do,” said Yucca Harris, Whitehead’s best friend.
Tas and Jas had been living with their elderly great-grandmother for about a year and a half following an incident in which they physically assaulted Whitehead. Police had been called to intervene in that case.
Friends say the 80 year old great-grandmother, also had problems with the teens.
“She’s an 80-year-old woman,” Harris said of Whitehead’s grandmother. “[Tas and Jas] could get away with just about anything.”
Michelle Temple, friend and former boss of the murdered mother, recounts that the girls had stolen $200 from her and they’d also stolen money from their great-grandmother in the past.
“The [great-grandmother] eventually had to get a dead-bolt for her bedroom,” Temple said.
The girls had just moved back home eight days prior to their mother’s death. Tasmiyah and Jasmiyah, were arrested and charged with murder in their mother’s death after Whitehead was found in a pool of blood, beaten and stabbed repeatedly.
The friends all say that Whitehead was committed to her daughters and felt they deserved a fresh start.
“The last night I saw her, she told me she was going to fight for those girls,” said Harris, who was invited to a welcome home dinner Whitehead had for Tas and Jas five days before her death.
“They agreed to start over, to forgive and forget.” Harris said she had a long conversation with her friend’s daughters that night, encouraging them to call her whenever they needed to talk.
“I thought I got through to them,” Harris said.
Both girls have denied killing their mother but evidence processed in the GBI crime lab links the girls to the slaying.
The twins originally claimed they came home from school and discovered their mother’s battered body in a pool of blood. One of them flagged down a Rockdale County Sheriff’s deputy who was in the neighborhood serving a warrant on an unrelated matter.
There was no sign of forced entry, and police suspected early on that Whitehead knew her killer.
The girls have been separated “to keep them from comparing notes,” Humphries said. One is in the Rockdale Youth Detention Center while the other was sent to Gwinnett’s YDC. They’re being held without bond and will be tried as adults.
“They were just defiant,” says Petrina Sims (owner of Simply Unique, a salon where Whitehead worked until her death) said of the twins.
“They had grown so wild in just a couple of years, like they were two different people. They weren’t those sweet little girls anymore.”

Three lives lost in a senseless murder…

Wow those twins are bad but lets see how they like a jail cell.
update they azz right to jail.
wow they were bad, lets see how they like the inside of a jail sell and see if they like it
hope they learn there lesson
Makes me sick to my stomach! I’ve not been blessed with a healthy relationship with my mother but I STILL could NEVER imagine MURDER??? JESUS! Healthy relationship or NOT, you MUST HONOR your mother or you curse yourself!!! Lord have mercy! These girls don’t even realize what they’ve done in the spiritual realm to their bloodline. JESUS CHRIST! GOD BLESS THEM, they’re gonna need it and a whole lot more. Whew!
Why didn’t the court place them with the maternal grandmother? Blank stare.
AM i would’nt let me kids spend the night with you let alone let the come to your house for 5 mins….but how yall know they didnt hate their mother for giving them up at a early age..kids will hate u
does not make sense
these twins are so beautiful(no homo) i think they did kill there mother.! i just kno that God knows what happen an we wont every hear the end of this but I hope what ever the truth is or who ever did this getts exactly what they deserve!! NO SENSE AT ALL KILLING THERE MOTHER… GOING TO SPEND THE REST OF THERE LIFE IN jail an when they die there going to hell
This is a shame. Who in the world would kill their mother? SMH
Why weren’t they turned over to the grandmother instead to the elderly great grandmother? They should have been placed in a YDC right then after the mother didn’t want them to come home. If their mom, who was a "young mother",couldn’t control them, why in the name of Jesus would they place them with a "great grandmom".The court have a hand in this as well, after the mom told the court she didn’t want them to come home, the court should have got consent from the mother and placed them in a YDC and maybe today, these 3 lives wouldn’t have been cut down at a very young age. Who would have thought those beautiful young ladies would have done such a horrific thing to the person who gave them life? Now they are in a situation way beyond their control, they don’t have mom anymore to help them and there’s nothing their great grandmom can do for them now, but pray for their souls..All started over mom telling them NO!!Now they will be placed in a facility where someone will control their every move!! Now seperated from each other,in a place with "real" killers,I gaurantee you, they are scared little girls now, who wished they had mom!! With all that been said, think of the consequences before your actions, ask yourself "is what you about to do is really worth it?" 9 out of 10, its really not!! My heart & prayers go out to the family, especially Nikki’s mom, she’s lost a beautiful daughter, who loved her girls unconditionally, to a senseless crime and in their actions(the twins), she’s(Nikki’s mom)lost her beautiful granddaughters as well…
Yo thumbs up for the last blog. It sure was super revealing.
Okay wait…I don’t see anyone stating the obvious…why weren’t these girls DISCIPLINED like they should have been for their behaviors prior to this. I would love to meet the NUTJOB who said that whoopin your child’s ass was a crime cuz I swear, my parents had me where i would NEVER consider killing them raising a hand to them or talking back. Kids these days have too many dog-on rights and it scares me because these are the ones who will take over the world when we r gone. They have no respect for elders (or anyone) anymore, they don’t respect life, they are spoiled and have a frightening sense of entitlement and I think it’s all because some NUTJOB has deprived parents of what they need to do to keep their children in line
It is ashame if these girls killed their mother. But the laws are made today in favor of the children because so many of them have been killed at the hands of their own parents. So, the laws are set forth for protecting the children. I work in the field, and I have seen so many children abused, killed, sexually abused, neglected by the hands of their own parents.
