Apparently BET thinks so. Word is…Ciara’s “Ride” video is banned from airplay. The suggestive video, which can be seen HERE, features Ludacris, and has CiCi getting her grinding and gyrating to the delight of of her fans.
With lyrics like “I can do it big, I can do it long. I can do it whenever, however you want…” Ciara may be pushing the envelope, but even her Granny is sticking beside her.
According to Ciara’s fan site:
Although fans were already skeptical about BET being the only network that had not premiered Ciara’s “Ride” video, it was not until last night that fans were TRULY enlightened. During Ciara’s Ustream chat, Ciara’s grandma, Grandma Gladys, let a “cat out of the bag”. Ironically, though many “non-family friendly” music videos have been shown on the channel in the past, “Ride” has not been accepted onto the network.
This will be the second Ciara video that BET has banned. Last September, the network announced they would no longer play her “Love, Sex, Magic” video, which features Justin Timberlake, because of the exposed butt cheeks, splits and ear licking.
CiCi’s STANS fans have organized a protest and created an online petition comparing Trey Songz sexed up videos to Ciara’s:
We have been recently notified that Ciara’s new Music Video ‘Ride’ is not being showed on B.E.T because it’s too sexual. Note that they play Trey Songz ‘Invented sex’ [where he is having sex with a woman in the video] and Trey Songz ‘Neighbors Know My Name’ [Having sex with DIFFERENT woman].
I think that B.E.T is over analyzing this, or is just being disrespectful to Ciara. MTV and VH1 is playing ‘Ride’ and so are other stations. What are you B.E.T going to do about this because as a fan and Representative of Ciara you are being UNFAIR!”
The petition only has about 200 signatures, so it doesn’t appear that anyone really cares. One sexy video unplayed on television is not the end of the world and it’s not like we haven’t all seen Ciara’s goodies. Maybe a petition to bring back BET’s uncut would be more beneficial…. then you could kill two birds with one stone. I’m just sayin…

It’s really not a big deal. I do think it’s unfortunate because I’m sure an alternate video could be made from unused footage… but it’s just 106 & Park basically. It’s not like BET has video rotations like they used to. One little countdown show won’t stop her.
Wtf.. the video ain’t even that bad.. love cici and the song to…who would get offensed by that unless they r 7….

I can’t stand the video..it is too salacious and I wish that the industry would provide more of a balance. why is that ONLY sex appears to sell? how come women who are not conforming to the sexy image, but who are truly talented, their videos are not being playeded? where is India Arie, where are other repsectable artist who truly make a difference? it is such a sad state of mind tht we are in now…
