The premiere episode of The Michael Vick Project aired last night on BET as the embattled quarterback fights to clear his family’s name. I was disappointed that the episode was only 30 minutes long but it manage to touch on quite a few things in that short period of time.
Vick discusses his childhood and how dogfighting was an acceptable activity in his crew. The documentary is full of family photos as Mike’s mother, brother, sister & fiance all discuss his life and path to the clink.
Yup. Ron Mexico was even scrumptious as a teen.
I initially thought that the show would be beating a dead horse, I mean… he’s served his time and has returned to football but watching the extra footage of his explanation regarding his decision to do the show made me realize it’s not really about that.
The show is designed to show that Mike is truly remorseful and on the path to redemption. As he states in the opening credits:
I’m Michael Vick, my fall from grace was tragic but it was all my fault and I’m on a mission to get everything back. Not the money and the fame, but to restore my family’s good name…
Did they hit the mark? You be the judge. Watch the full first episode of The Michael Vick Project + extra footage of Mike discussing his new show below:
