It’s no secret that Mo is strongly devoted to her two boys, Rocko & Romelo, and the new tatts are a reflection of where her heart lies.

You see her as a hoodrat so it is acceptable in your sight to put rims and bumper stickers on a Bentley. I see her as a mega superstar so this is unacceptable to me. Things like this will limit her marketability. Perhaps if she had the right management and pr team in place they would have advised her on career advancement pitfalls. I’m a huge Monica fan, but I must say I am disappointed to see her adding new tats. I thought this era was all about the return of the classy Monica we knew during the TBIM era. See this is the problem with the world today: too many judgmental people. I personally am not a tatoo person but I respect Monica because all her tattoos have a deeper meaning. What bothers me most is certain people are so quick to point this out as a flaw but its a sign of love. It is his personal way of expressing her love for her kids. Last time I checked it wasn’t Monica’s tattoos that was making the money. It’s her oh so lovely voice. Majority of all artist have tattoos some are visible and some are not. But Monica is not only a singer, she is a mother, sister, best friend and a role model. Regardless of that all she is still human and she has a life of her own and I don’t think the tattoos are a issue!

Clearly you don’t know how to read. I specifically said that I don’t think Monica’s tats have any bearing on whether or not she is classy in real life. The reality is that I KNOW she is classy. BUT, I am a fan, and I care to know who she is beyond the surface. The sad reality is that the larger public won’t care to look beyond the surface.
Secondly, how did this become a black/white issue? lmfao. There’s nothing wrong with tats whether you are black, white, or yellow. My only point is that when you are a celebrity (granted you CARE about the success of your career) you have to make certain choices. Angelina Jolie would arguably receive similar criticisms if she decided to go get a large tattoo on her shoulder today.
I am soon-to-be attorney, and while I like the idea of a tattoo on my forearm, I simply can’t do that if I want to succeed b/c the sad fact of the matter is that people will judge.
I support Mo in her choice, its her body, but I hope she understands that the larger public will be turned off by this at this critical time in her career (as she struggles to make her comeback).

Regardless of whether its hood or not, the fact of the matter is that Monica ought to know by now that people will associate that with hood. And judging from her past, anytime “hood” and “Monica” go together it has = fail (see TMOM era). Given she is trying to make a comeback, at the very least, she should have kept the new tats out of the public eye.

With regard to the shacking up comments that people make about Monica, those are just stupid. We live in 2010 and everyone ought to know by now she is a damn good woman and mother. The reality is that you can’t always please everyone. I think the majority of people are not phased by Monica “shacking up.”
But about whether or not the classy Monica left… your point is well taken. It’s not so much that I think the classy Monica left so much as I think Monica for a while was trying too hard to be something she was not. During the whole The Making of Me era she seemed to be trying to convince people that she was hood as if it would earn her cool points or something. Hood went out with the 90′s. Even Keyshia Cole got with the program. I’m glad to see that overall Monica has “Learned her Lessons” but I do view this tattoo as a step in the wrong direction career and publicity wise. (I repeat, I respect that she is entitled to do what she wants in her personal life. I am purely speaking from a career standpoint.)

I hear your point, and I know it all comes down to God in one way or another but the reality is I can’t just walk up into my law firm dressed however I want or tatted up from head to toe. It’s unfortunate but it is the world we live in.
I love Monica…I have always loved her music. I am also a Mary fan to death. But I think ANY woman that has all those tattoos on their body is just ridiculous.
