I woke up this morning reflecting on all the wonderful things that’s happened in 2009. In doing so, I also thought about the not so wonderful experiences I’ve encountered.
I learned a long time ago that there is no GOOD without BAD and each one is necessary for the existence of the the other. Hopefully those lessons learned will carry on into 2010 so that I won’t have to retake the class but if not, I’m totally ready for the ride.
TwentyTen is the year to win. I’ve totally adopted that slogan in my everyday and have some exciting plans for my business, as well as my personal life. I also feel that the number “10″ is significant because 10 years ago, I was going through a ton of life changes that seemed so monumental back then.
In the years since 1999 I’ve accumulated every material thing I’ve ever wanted (literally) and find that now, 10 years later…my ultimate goal is not in obtaining things, but keeping the things I’ve acquired.
I lost a job that I put my heart & soul into because of their discriminatory practices but also created a business from the ground up. I’ve been married & divorced. I’ve been engaged. I returned to school. I’ve gained & lost friends. I’ve lost and gained weight.
I’ve bought and sold propertie(s) and still play monopoly with Atlanta real estate today, so in the words of Jay-Z “I’m not a businessman…. I’m a BUSINESS man!” well….woman. But you get the picture.
I started StraightFromTheA.com in 2007 because I read Sandra Rose and Crunk&Disorderly religiously. They each got my through tough times at the office and inspired me to put some of my own experiences in a blog. I never set out to make money and most of my friends don’t even read my site. I was totally on some “LOVE” for my city type ish…still am.
The relationships I’ve made because of my site are priceless and I do most things simply because I love it so much. Being that I’m a corporate diva, I’m accustomed to “office politics”, sideline hating and so forth, but I never knew blogging was as serious as it was until I stepped into this internet world. Talk about cutthroat… jeez!
I’ve been befriended by quite a few bloggers and it’s no secret that quite a few aren’t my friends anymore. Everyone thinks that “Atlanta Bloggers” are messy and create beef but the title is totally unfounded. The shit talkers, the beef starters, the fakers, the lames, whatever you care to call them…are never from here. So it’s disheartening that we get the title.
My TRUE friends are awesome and I thank God for putting certain people in my life in 09 & also praise him for removing quite a few negative spirits. I still have quite a few “bloggers” in my circle and there are still quite a few I look up to but I would be remiss to ignore the obvious that I’m asked about so frequently.
I’m not calling names cause there’s really no point. The year is over and we aren’t friends anymore. It’s all good. I wish everyone success in this game but I learned the hard way that when people are on the “come up” they don’t care who they step on.
I had planned for my final blog words be “I Quit this Bitch!” but I can’t. I don’t know if quitting’s in me. That being said, if I choose to blog or not in 2010. I still plan on WINNING behind the scenes.

Very inspiring post! Wishing you nothing but the best in the coming year!
2009 was the year I was tested in every area of my life – career, health, marriage, illness of loved ones. My mother and son both became gravely ill at the same time. Both were hospitalized in the same hospital. While they were talking about putting my mother on a respirator, my son was transported to Scottish Rite hospital. I prayed like never before.

My company desided they did not want a “nigga” lawyer so to the EEOC I went.

I too lost some blogging friends (Gina of What About Our Daughters, Blackseagoat and Shecodes). Albeit, I did pick a fight with Blackseagoat. I was amazed how these individuals were so eager to throw our “friendship” at a time when I was in the belly of the whale, fiery furnace and liond den.
Since July 3, 2009, when I came out of the hospital, I have been cussing everyone out from childhood friends to family members to sorors. I got everyone I could.

I cried so much this year until my eyes are dry.

I prayed, made Youtube videos and blogged to help me deal with my pain.
I appreciate you (Michelle) for responding to my tweets and comments on my blog. You are a famous blogger, but you took the time out of schedule to respond to my comments and tweets. That meant a lot to me because I was feeling really lonely and depressed at times.
I will end my rant now. I look forward to 2010 and beyond. I declare that my latter will be greater than my past.

In fact, the Holy Spirit sent me a message today:
Hold on: change is coming
hold on: don’t worry bout a thing
Hold on: you can make it
Hold on: everything’ll be alright

Thanks Nisha! I appreciate you taking the time to read all of that!
AttorneyMom you’re about to make me cry! Seriously, I’m in line at Walmart right now and reading your comment brought tears to my eyes.
I don’t write about my struggles much, but you and I have quite a few similarities. Besides both being a bit “Touched”
I too have struggled with EEOC issues with my former employer.
When you tweet about AttorneyDad getting on your nerves… Trust. I’ve been there too. I don’t have kids but many of our experiences are similar.
Whooo and don’t even get me started on the Vivica/50 Cent saga that was played out on the Monique show…. Vivica and I are one right now.
I swear umma have to save some of this for my personal blog, but this year has been an adventure!!
I’m not a “famous blogger” and don’t aspire to be one. I’m just plain ole Michelle from Southwest ATL and I appreciate the opportunity to share with you music & stories that I find amusing.
Keep your head up chick. You inspire me as well.
YOU have always been a class act. What ever else you decide to do I wish you well in all of your endeavors. Happy New Year!
I didn’t want to put Mr. Attorneymom on blast, but I had to. Hopefully, one day I can tell my full testimony. : – )
Folks better leave Ms. Vivica Fox alone. That took guts to get on TV and share her pain. I have more respect for Curtis. In fact, I am going to remove him from “Sit Your Azz Down” list later today.
2010 is a new year and a new time. It’s funny how things in life can change you and adverse events in our life may hurt at first, but ultimately make us the strong and the go getters that we are.
So with that being said, AtLien the blogsphere needs you, you keep it interesting.
Happy New Years girl and P.S. I just adopted your 2010 = The Year To Win motto!
