Video ~ Al Sharpton & Joe Jackson Press Conference
Reverend Al Sharpton and Joe Jackson got together today for an impromptu press conference. They tried to prepare Joe’s image by addressing last night’s Red Carpet debaucle, as well as revealed plans for a few memorial and tributes. I dunno bout you guys but anytime Sharpton is involved I get pretty nervous. Things are gonna get messy and we know it but does Al HAVE to attach himself so soon?
Papa Joe began his portion of the conference by saying, “I wish that Michael could be here to see all this.” He went on to say that Michael will be most remembered for his charity work and stated that “Sometimes he would go and cry about it because he felt sorry for the people he was helping,” When asked if the funeral would be private, Joe said, “I’ve never heard of a private funeral.”
As questions arose about Michael’s children, of whom Michael’s mother was just granted temporary custody, Joe said, “They’re happy with the kids that they’re around, cause we have kids back there that are small just like they are. They was never around other kids, they’re happy.”
Interpretation? Joe and Al have big things planned, Michael’s funeral will be huge and Papa Joe feels that Mike’s kids weren’t treated well by Mike… *sigh*

June 29, 2009 @ 8:13 pmnotwithstanding mj’s contributions to pop culture, he was in the end just a man, a son and a brother. the cause of his early demise will not be known for several weeks; the demise, however, is likely to be permanent. he will no longer be a force for good or evil. his manufactured image will soon be marketed using the same business model which has made millions from elvis. welcome to the freak show!
at a time where the forces of ‘the same’ are in a battle to the death with the forces of change, the attention given this ordinary tragedy simply keeps our eyes off the prize.
believe me, the forces of ‘the same’ are not asleep at the switch. let’s wake up and get back the the business of making this a better place for the living and those not yet born.

July 1, 2009 @ 1:36 amI am glad that Michael Jackson’s mom got temporary custody of his kids. Those babies should be around people they are familiar with, if this is his mom, so be it. I am scared to think about the reason why their biological mom wants custody again now. Can somebody say, ca-ching!
