A routine traffic stop netted Clayton County officials over 100 pounds of marijuana last night. Around 5 p.m., a Clayton officer pulled over a Ford van for making an improper lane change on Mt. Zion Road near Morrow. As the officer approached the driver side window, he observed that the driver was extremely nervous and that there was a strong smell coming from the vehicle that he identified as possibly being marijuana. When officers searched the van, they found 100 pounds of suspected marijuana with a street value of about a half-million dollars.

The van’s driver, 48-year-old Rowan Jeffers, was arrested on drug trafficking charges, and police later executed a search warrant at his residence on New Haven Drive in Jonesboro, where they found another seven pounds of marijuana in the garage.

Channel 2 cameras were rolling when Clayton County’s SWAT team raided the home last night. It was revealed that this is the third time the couple’s home has been raided:

“I don’t know what’s going on…that’s all,” said Sheralyn Felix

.Channel 2 Action News reporter Eric Philips said, “That’s the same thing you said in 2006.”

“There you have it,” she said. “I’m a poor woman…I’m a poor woman, just in the circumstance and I don’t understand why these people are here.”

Randy and Sheralyn Felix, as well as the driver of the vehicle, Rowan Jeffers, all face drug charges.
