Did Keri Hilson Diss Lauren Hill?
Keri “You can find me in Decatur Hoe” Hilson chopped it up with KarmaLoopTV recently in a video taped interview. She divulged a few of her favorite artists (The Dream, Ryan Lesie, yada, yada, yada) and managed to step on a few toes when she mentioned Lauren Hill. Fans are crying “foul” and saying that Keri’s cockiness is out of control. Now, I must say that I didn’t sense any ill will when I watched the video, but although she does admit to being a huge fan of Hill, maybe offering to write her “comeback song” wasn’t a smart move.

June 3, 2009 @ 4:17 pmi love me some keri hilson ~ do NOT get it twisted ~ but she’s starting to slowly creep towards my “i like her music but i don’t like her” category (beyonce is also filed here)…
seems like 99% of the time i see her name on blogs it’s b/c of dramz: great for short-term publicity, but supernotcute for building a devoted fan base. i’m not saying be fake b/c i like celebs who are “real people”, but unless all these misunderstandings are orchestrated by her and her team, then she clearly needs to learn to be a bit more diplomatic.
no one seems to have made this point yet, either… in the interview, keri sites the turning point of her career: realizing that singers didn’t always (or even usually) sing their own lyrics. she then sites some of her singer/songwriter heroes, of which lauryn is one. …and then she offers to write lauryn’s “comeback song” when she knows damned well ~ and just said ~ that lauryn writes her own frigging lyrics: kinna dumb.

Do you really know who Lauryn Hill is and what she means to the game?! I don’t think you do.
Some of you young people get da big head without paying your dues first. You get nowhere in life without first paying some kind of due and keeping yourself humble along the way and that says a lot about you.
