“Smooth like a hot comb on nappy “A”zzzz hair!”
I caught up with Antwan ‘Big Boi’ Patton the other night and told him about my Old School Atlanta Memory (O.S.A.M.) project and my desire to capture them all on film. Of course Twan was down for the cause and we stepped outside the club for a mini trip down memory lane. I was expecting tales of Freaknic (as almost everyone has a Freaknic tale to tell) but what I GOT was an old school hustler tale of chillin on Simpson Road’s Charles Disco.
..and speaking of Dre. He also spoke of his Charles Disco tales many moons ago in a song. So to add to today’s Flashback fabulousness, let’s take a trip down memory lane with SpottieOttieDopalicious:

Hello everybody!
Way back in 1984 I experienced the San Susie and Charles around about the same time. It was quite the experience and I will never forget it. Needless to say I went back for more and more and more.
First of all I remember being nervouse about getting through the front door. After I made it through and made what seemed like the longest walk to the main lounge. My feet would stick to the floor because they never cleaned it and if they did it didn’t do any good. In the main lounge area the decorum was wall to wall carpet with mirrored covered partitions and one centralized bar. They would have these contests that they would call the nasty boy and nasty girl contest where the contestants would strip for money and the patrons would vote at the end of the contest for the winners. The male contestants usually danced off of a Magic Mike song and the girls would dance off of Vanity 6 Nasty girl song. We would all be having fun until somebody from bankhead court would get into it with some crazy from Hollywood court, court was really pronouced as coat, anyway the morning, cause it was usually morning when you came up out of there would end in a rain of gunfire. Oh, how I miss those days.

Oh, Someone needs to write about the Phoenix which later bacame the bar for the children. It was know as traxx.
We would twirl all night long.
LOL!!! I really miss those days!

‘the bar for the children’ + ‘twirl all night long’ = *DEAD*
