Y’all dragged me off of my Christmast vacaction with this one! I’ve received emails, phone calls and knocks on my front door of people asking me wassup with Monica. Apparently word on the street is that Monica and her boo Rocko have been living in wedded bliss for some time now and haven’t told anyone…*cough* “Anyone” meaning me! Monica, the mother of two of the cutest kids I know, and her perpetual fiance Rodney Ramone Hill, Jr., aka Rocko Da Don. are rumored to have tied the knot.
Super producer Bryan-Michael Cox let the cat out of the bag during a recent interview:
Question: Back in the day Brandy and Monica were sort of the touted R&B/Pop queens, much like you have let’s say Rihanna and Beyonce today. Working with Monica, who now has children and a family life, was the experience of producing for her new album a challenge?
Bryan Michael Cox: Monica, she’s a mother, a WIFE and all of that right now and she’s a young woman. She was really open. She didn’t want to make a “Oh I’m married and I have to do this” type of album. She still wanted to make a young and fly album. (Source)
Monica herself has also been known to call Rocko her hubby and indicated that they were married in an interview earlier this year. I, for one, am happy for the couple but disappointed that I didn’t receive my INVITE. Wassup with that MO?? 😕
Gorilla Zoe didn’t waste anytime releasing the video for “Lost”. The video (above) is described as a conceptual view of Zoe “losing it” throughout the “A”. Side note: The video is missing Lil Wayne’s portion…*scratching head* …Don’t ask…I dunno why. 😕
I kinda feel like I’m losing it today being as though I’ve hit up 3 malls in the course of 4 hours! Dontcha just love gift giving…?
Two of my favorite ATLiens, Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges and Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, will co-host the Urban Ball, one of the numerous inauguration-night galas celebrating the election of Barack Obama. Washington, DC is gonna party harder than it ever has before during that weekend! David Banner, Bobby Valentino, Lil Jon, T-Pain, Cedric the Entertainer, the Cheetah Girls, Goapelle, Fantasia and Monica are all scheduled to appear at the Jan. 20th event, which will be held at D.C.’s Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. Click here for more information and to obtain your tickets.
Ludacris also did a brief interview recently where he discussed how he started in the music business. He also addressed the historic meaning of this presidency where he notes that we as a people have “no more excuses” not to succeed. None…Zero…Zip…Nada! Video below: Continue Reading…
I admit I can’t be all things to all people…and I slip occasionally…but why am I just seeing this Kardinall Offishall video featuring Keri Hilson? My next question is WHY is she featured everywhere while we are all waiting on HER album to drop? Wassup with that??? OK…that’s all my questions for today. You may proceed 😆
I know some of y’all complain about Tyler Perry‘s movies…but I, for one am a diehard fan. I still have all my bootleg copies of his old plays that I bought at the beauty shop (wassup Shonda). Sorry Tyler! As Oprah says…”when you know better you do better” I’ll make sure to buy this one when it comes out… 😉 Anywhoo, his next feature film “Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes To Jail” looks like it will be a good one to see. Here’s the summary I received yesterday:
After a high-speed freeway chase puts Madea (Tyler Perry) in front of the judge, her reprieve is short-lived as anger management issues get the best of her and land her in jail. A gleeful Joe (Tyler Perry) couldn’t be happier at Madea‘s misfortune. But Madea‘s eccentric family members the Browns (David and Tamala Mann) rally behind her, lending their special “country” brand of support. Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Joshua Hardaway (Derek Luke) is on the fast track to career success. But Hardaway lands a case too personal to handle – defending young prostitute and former drug addict Candace Washington (Keisha Knight Pulliam)—and asks his fiancé and fellow ADA Linda Holmes (Ion Overman) to fill in on his behalf. When Candace ends up in jail,Madea befriends the young woman, protecting her in a “motherly” way as only Madea can.
