Young Jeezy was the man of the hour at The Velvet Room on Christmas Day. Jay Jenkins partied like it was 1999, with blunts and ladies in tow. Shoot…there wasn’t a dry cup in the building and judging from the pics Jeezy was feelin Reeeeal good! The special guest for the night was Jeezy’s ex-boo, Keyshia Cole, who sat quietly in the V.I.P. and posed demurely for photos.
When I saw these pics, I wondered what it was like for the two former lovebirds to share the limelight at a party. I miss these two together and I, for one, am rooting for a re-up! I dunno if they had issues that night or not, but Jeezy was definitely in OVERDRIVE! Dontcha just love it when pictures tell a great story. More pics:
Buffie Carruth aka Buffie the Body discusses being featured in Vibe magazine’s Video Vixen feature. In Vibe’s behind the scenes video, Buffie stakes her claim on the “Big Butt” movement and says her skin tone and size changed the game and if it wasn’t for her “A”zzz, big butts would never have been accepted. OK…Buffie you win. I guess.
Monica threw her fiancé, Rocko, a huge birthday party at Straits Restaurant in Atlanta. The spot, owned by Mo’s cousin Chistopher Ludacris Bridges was packed wall to wall with all of the couple’s celebrity friends.
Derek Blanks, Shawty Lo and his wife, D.Woods, Kandi Buress (xscape), Jerry Clark (island def jam), Sheree Whitfield, Paster Troy, Young Ralph, Yung Joc, Jazze Pha….hell, even Dekalb County CEO Vernon Jones popped in for a piece of cake! I went, thinking that the birthday bash was going to be Monica & Rocko’s wedding reception. I’m sure you noticed that I still referred to Rocko as Monica’s fiance…well, that’s because the two haven’t eloped and I was angry for nothing. Monica cleared up the ’secret wedding’ rumor and stated that B. Cox referring to her as Rocko’s wife is not unusual. They don’t think of her as his ‘baby momma’ and it’s a respect thing. Plus, she added that Bryan has been privy to intimate details of their plans for the big day.
The two lovebirds sat like the king and queen of the ‘A’ at the head of a table full of their friends and family but one self proclaimed king must have been home alone a bit too long cause he made a surprise visit to escort his queen home. (more…)
Ciara is making waves this week with two underground remixes. There may even be a “Fantasy Ride” Mixtape somewhere making the rounds but I know nothing of it…yet. The first track below is CiCi’s cover of Beyonce’s hot “Diva” song. She’s reppin the “A” fully so don’t even try blasting her flow over here. I like it and thats all that matters…Now that 50 cent song….that’s gonna have to grow on me. Ciara and her boo (or is it ex-boo this week?) collaborate on a new track called “Slow Down” and I’m not really feeling it…but you might. Check em both out below.
Alex Gidewon’s The Gidewon Foundation and T.I.’s K.I.N.G. Foundation joined forces to bring a bit of holiday cheer to 300+ underpriviledged kids from the Atlanta area. The 4th Annual Christmas Holiday For Kids event was held at the Cascade Skating rink yesterday and all were treated to a day of celebration which included skating, games, music, food, clothes, and toy giveaways.
“With the state of the economy, I’m glad I’m able to continue in my efforts with providing a Christmas experience for children that would not have one otherwise. It really means a lot to me to be able to put a smile on a child’s face,” states Gidewon.
Y’all dragged me off of my Christmast vacaction with this one! I’ve received emails, phone calls and knocks on my front door of people asking me wassup with Monica. Apparently word on the street is that Monica and her boo Rocko have been living in wedded bliss for some time now and haven’t told anyone…*cough* “Anyone” meaning me! Monica, the mother of two of the cutest kids I know, and her perpetual fiance Rodney Ramone Hill, Jr., aka Rocko Da Don. are rumored to have tied the knot.
Super producer Bryan-Michael Cox let the cat out of the bag during a recent interview:
Question: Back in the day Brandy and Monica were sort of the touted R&B/Pop queens, much like you have let’s say Rihanna and Beyonce today. Working with Monica, who now has children and a family life, was the experience of producing for her new album a challenge?
Bryan Michael Cox: Monica, she’s a mother, a WIFE and all of that right now and she’s a young woman. She was really open. She didn’t want to make a “Oh I’m married and I have to do this” type of album. She still wanted to make a young and fly album. (Source)
Monica herself has also been known to call Rocko her hubby and indicated that they were married in an interview earlier this year. I, for one, am happy for the couple but disappointed that I didn’t receive my INVITE. Wassup with that MO??
