Do you guys remember O’So Krispie, the O’So perky winner of UPN’s R U The Girl with T Boz & Chilli?? Well, O’So, real name Tiffany Baker, is back after getting her life and her mind together after a series of hardships and has a new single making the rounds. I just received a press release and was pleasently surprised to see that a couple of ATL producers (DJ Toomp, Teddy Bishop) have a hand in O’So’s comeback.
Find out what she’s been up too, and also check out the new video for her single “Slumber Party”:
O’So Krispie found quickly, that Reality TV does not always deliver the promises it presents. The world, as we know it is now saturated with artists who are long forgotten after their 15 minutes of fame, hugely hyped debut singles and long shelved contracts trapping them to a major label. Most of these labels don’t allow artist to express themselves; declaring that they want something different, yet making artists the same.
This was nearly the fate of O’So Krispie. After taking a hiatus to go back to college, O’So experienced both a failed long term relationship and the death of her grandmother, two blows that seemed to drain her energy. Continuing to write and perform through out the hurt, O’So returned with the car anthem “Roll With You”. Despite some commercial success, O’So Krispie decided the Roll With You project was not expressing the growth she had experienced over the two years after the show. O’So then returned to her choreography, which had always seemed to make her feel better, in hopes to heal properly. It’s true; you can’t keep a good girl down.
Now, after a brief break from the industry and finally freed from her initial contract, O’So Krispie has arrived with the first musical project she truly feels proud of. The PINK Album is what O’So describes as her “freedom debut”, showcasing her extraordinary vocals and songwriting abilities. The long awaited first single “Slumber Party” featuring artist King Official is an exciting party song that depicts a night at home with the girls, as an alternative to going out. O’So explains that the song “Slumber Party” as well as the video, directed by Scenario (50cent, Fabolous, Swizz Beatz, Wyclef) is kid friendly, thus giving an option for parents outside of the violent, sex driven music we hear and see on the radio & T.V everyday. With over 100,000 views in its first three weeks on YouTube, “Slumber Party” is catching quickly to the pop scene, showing that there is a demand outside of Disney for clean youth empowering music. “Slumber Party” is available NOW on ITunes, Napster, Amazon, fye, Best Buy, MySpace, YouTube, AOL, and Yahoo to name a few.
The PINK Album is full of high energy, full hearted songs and catchy melodies, which O’So Krispie has been known to incorporate in her song writing. Produced entirely by Russ Castella (Rihanna, Rockell) , written completely by O’So Krispie and vocally produced in all by Brandon “B.Hess” Hesson (Dj Toomp, Focus, Teddy Bishop), makes this cd one that you will listen to from beginning to end. From the fearfully love induced “Acrophobic” to the tasty yet witty metaphor of “Bubble Gum”, on down to the southern swag of “PINK Cadillac”, O’So Krispie has guaranteed a little something for everyone. Her second single “Yellow”, describes a great relationship gone wrong leaving those involved feeling blue, wanting everything to be happy and/or “Yellow”. Destined to become a classic, as one of those songs that helps you get through a tough break up; “Yellow” is sure to touch the hearts of many. O’So Krispie is giving away a piece of herself with her solo debut. You’ll definitely want to snatch it up.
Currently signed to Bliss entertainment, O’So Krispie is gearing up for a dynamic 2008 and an even more adventurous future in the music industry. Keep your eyes, ears and hearts open. “Slumber Party” is here and you’re invited.
