Isaac Hayes Deceased At 65
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Isaac Hayes, the pioneering singer, songwriter and musician whose relentless “Theme From Shaft” won Academy and Grammy awards, died Sunday, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said. He was 65.
A family member found Hayes unresponsive near a treadmill and he was pronounced dead about an hour later at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, according to the sheriff’s office. The cause of death was not immediately known.
Damn Isaac. Yet another true legend gone.

August 11, 2008 @ 3:14 pmIssac Hayes was a very special entertainer as he was able to sing, play different musical instruments (& didn’t mind showing his audiance “how” it was done), dance and act (he was in a number of movies and televisions sitcoms). I remember back in the early 70’s when people would get his voice mixed up with Barry White’s because they both had the deep baritone sound but I was NEVER confused as I could feel the Soul in Issac’s mellow tone…..he had so much feeling at a time when singers like Marvin Gaye, James Brown & others were cornering the market. He will be sorely missed!
