Family Fued ~ No Justice No Peace for Kings
Some things are sacred in Atlanta…and the King Family is one of em, but lately…the inner turmoil that most of us ATLiens have known for some time now has come to the forefront in the form of a lawsuit. The King siblings are at odds over [what else?]…MONEY! Bernice and Martin, III have joined together to file suit against brother Dexter and have accused their sibling of mismanaging money from King, Inc., hiding documents from them and taking money from their mother’s estate.
Atlanta elders are hot right now that the King’s have decided to fight a public battle. Juanita Abernathy, the wife of civil right’s activist Ralph David Abernathy hopes that the public battle will be a short one and that the family will eventually settle the matter privately:
“I taught my children that you may fight behind closed doors but come out together, because you are the same blood and come from the same parents,” she said. “I teach that every day. I know Martin and Coretta taught their children that.”
Dexter King has said that he is stunned by the lawsuit and that his siblings are not returning his calls:
“I left them a message to call me, so we could talk, and they have not returned the call,” he said. “I assumed they were busy. I just … I don’t understand it.”

Legacy. We want to talk about setting an example. This **** don’t make no sense. As paramount as the Civil Rights movement was I cannot believe that it has come to this.
King children please let it go.
Your parents left you here as their legacy. Please don’t disappoint them and us.
